Logistics Corridor Drainage Laredo

TDR Pipe supplied TDR ULTRA® corrugated HDPE pipe for logistics corridor drainage in Laredo, Texas at the RTM Civil Project, a critical utility and sitework development at the intersection of Fasken Blvd, Mines Rd, and Loop 20 near the World Trade Bridge. TDR provided 12-inch through 60-inch dual-wall HDPE pipe totaling 4,880 linear feet for the site’s underground drainage network.

Project overview

The RTM Civil Project in Laredo, Texas is a critical utility and sitework development located at the intersection of Fasken Blvd, Mines Rd, and Loop 20. This area serves as the backbone of the North American logistics corridor, requiring high-capacity infrastructure to support the constant transit of heavy freight. The project involved installing a comprehensive underground drainage network designed to protect the integrity of the concrete and asphalt surfaces essential for industrial operations near the World Trade Bridge—one of the busiest commercial land ports on the U.S.–Mexico border..

The Challenge: A High-Density Utility Corridor
The primary challenge was the high-density utility environment typical of the Laredo–Mines Rd corridor. The drainage system had to navigate around existing infrastructure without compromising flow efficiency, and it had to withstand the repetitive heavy wheel loads of continuous 18-wheeler transit. Coordinating a new high-capacity network into a busy, congested corridor—while keeping freight moving—required careful engineering and real-time field adjustment.

Logistics Corridor Drainage in Laredo — The TDR ULTRA® Solution
The storm-drainage configuration was engineered to manage the unique demands of a heavy-freight logistics hub. The network uses a series of high-capacity trunk lines that interface with the regional drainage system, conveying surface water efficiently away from high-traffic loading zones. TDR ULTRA®’s diameter range from 12 to 60 inches provided maximum hydraulic capacity while maintaining the structural strength necessary to withstand repetitive 18-wheeler wheel loads. Its flexibility allowed the network to navigate the corridor’s dense existing utilities without sacrificing flow efficiency or over-excavating.

Coordination Strategy and TxDOT Compliance
To facilitate a high-speed installation in a busy transit zone, a specialized coordination strategy minimized the time trenches remained open—maintaining jobsite safety and efficiency and ensuring the critical utility phase finished without delaying later milestones. Ongoing coordination between the engineering team and the contractor allowed real-time field adjustments, reducing the risk of utility conflicts. Material selection and installation complied with applicable TxDOT drainage standards and roadway specifications.

Operational Outcome
The resulting infrastructure provides a high-performance foundation for industrial activity in the Laredo region. The project successfully addressed the site’s hydrologic needs, creating a durable storm-management system that minimizes maintenance and maximizes site uptime for logistics tenants. The collaboration between contractor and technical-service team produced an optimized utility network that supports the long-term economic growth of the San Antonio–Laredo corridor.

About TDR ULTRA® Corrugated HDPE Pipe
TDR ULTRA® is a dual-wall corrugated high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipe engineered for gravity-flow stormwater drainage. It combines a smooth interior liner for hydraulic efficiency with a reinforced, annular corrugated exterior and a co-extruded integrated bell for watertight joints. Available in 4-inch through 60-inch diameters, TDR ULTRA® meets AASHTO M294 and ASTM F2306, with watertight joints tested per ASTM D3212—making it well suited to industrial, logistics, highway, and commercial drainage projects across Texas.
