Industrial Park Drainage Katy

TDR Pipe supplied TDR ULTRA® corrugated HDPE pipe for industrial park drainage in Katy, Texas at Grand Central West Industrial Park, a 118-acre Class A distribution development on the Grand Parkway / FM 529 corridor. TDR provided 12-inch through 60-inch dual-wall HDPE pipe totaling 5,360 linear feet for the park’s high-capacity stormwater network.

Project overview

Grand Central West Industrial Park is a 118-acre Class A distribution development strategically located along the Grand Parkway near FM 529 in Katy, Texas—one of the most active industrial growth corridors in the Houston metro area. The development is planned to accommodate up to 2,237,040 square feet of industrial space, supporting logistics, warehousing, and distribution operations. The site includes regional detention infrastructure designed to manage stormwater across the large-scale development. At this scale, drainage is core infrastructure: it has to convey high runoff volumes reliably and integrate cleanly with regional detention.

The Challenge: High-Volume Runoff at Scale
A large-scale site built in multiple phases with numerous building pads creates high runoff volumes from extensive paved surfaces—roofs, yards, and truck courts. The drainage system had to convey those volumes on flat terrain that demands engineered solutions, coordinate with the regional detention infrastructure, and keep pace with tight construction timelines for industrial delivery. Each phase needed high-capacity conveyance that would perform under heavy loads while tying cleanly into the site’s detention system.

Industrial Park Drainage in Katy — The TDR ULTRA® Solution
A dual-wall HDPE drainage system—TDR ULTRA® corrugated HDPE pipe in large diameters—was selected to move high stormwater volumes efficiently and integrate with the regional detention system. Watertight bell-and-spigot connections and engineered fittings maintained system continuity and alignment across the large footprint. Diameters from 12 to 60 inches let smaller lines capture localized runoff while large mains carried combined flows toward detention, and the pipe’s smooth interior delivered the flow capacity needed on flat terrain—durable, efficient conveyance sized for a 2.2-million-square-foot development.

Installation and TxDOT Compliance
Material selection and installation complied with applicable TxDOT drainage standards and roadway specifications. TDR’s Engineering Department prepared the takeoff and lay schedule to support accurate, efficient installation across the phased site. The lightweight HDPE pipe and watertight connections sped placement and maintained alignment beneath heavily loaded pavements and truck courts, helping keep the industrial delivery schedule on track.

Performance and Long-Term Value
Grand Central West demonstrates the successful implementation of engineered drainage in large-scale logistics developments. The HDPE piping ensures durability, hydraulic efficiency, and long-term value—conveying high runoff volumes away from truck courts and building pads and integrating with regional detention. For a Class A logistics park, that reliability protects tenant operations, pavement assets, and the site’s long-term performance as additional phases come online.

About TDR ULTRA® Corrugated HDPE Pipe
TDR ULTRA® is a dual-wall corrugated high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipe engineered for gravity-flow stormwater drainage. It combines a smooth interior liner for hydraulic efficiency with a reinforced, annular corrugated exterior and a co-extruded integrated bell for watertight joints. Available in 4-inch through 60-inch diameters, TDR ULTRA® meets AASHTO M294 and ASTM F2306, with watertight joints tested per ASTM D3212—making it well suited to industrial, logistics, highway, and commercial drainage projects across Texas.
