TDR ULTRA Corrugated HDPE Pipe Alamo Junction Rail Park, Elmendorf, TX

Rail Park Drainage Elmendorf
TDR Pipe supplied TDR ULTRA® corrugated HDPE pipe for rail park drainage in Elmendorf, Texas at Alamo Junction Rail Park, a 520-acre master-planned, rail-served industrial park about 20 miles southeast of San Antonio. TDR provided 15-inch through 42-inch dual-wall HDPE pipe totaling 8,000 linear feet for a build-to-suit phase.
Project overview
Alamo Junction Rail Park is a 520-acre master-planned, rail-served industrial park in Elmendorf, Texas—about 20 miles southeast of San Antonio, inside Loop 1604—developed by National Property Holdings and Rail Logix. Serving manufacturing, distribution, transloading, logistics, and oilfield-services tenants, the park is anchored by a 400,000-square-foot Home Depot distribution center completed in 2024. DNT Construction is the active contractor on the current build-to-suit phase. For a rail-served park still growing, drainage had to serve new facilities while tying into an evolving master storm system.
The Challenge: Regional Detention and Multi-Agency Coordination
The Alamo Junction site requires regional detention and operates within the San Antonio ETJ, adding regulatory coordination with Bexar County and City of Elmendorf drainage standards. Its multi-tenant, multi-phase nature means new building drainage must tie into an evolving master storm system without disrupting existing tenants. Add flat South Texas terrain, high impervious cover from large industrial footprints, heavy truck and rail traffic loads, and dual-railroad constraints, and the drainage had to deliver both high hydraulic capacity and heavy structural performance.
Rail Park Drainage in Elmendorf — The TDR ULTRA® Solution
TDR ULTRA® was selected as the stormwater drainage solution for this build-to-suit phase. Its dual-wall corrugated structure handles the HS-20+ pavement loading required under heavy truck courts serving facilities with 32-foot clear heights, 24 dock doors, and oversized truck courts. Given the park’s flat terrain and high impervious cover, the dual-wall corrugated profile delivers the hydraulic capacity and structural performance required, with diameters from 15 to 42 inches scaling across the network. The pipe’s consistent joint system simplifies inspection and long-term maintenance for the park’s property-management team, and its lightweight design supports faster installation in an active multi-tenant park where construction sequencing is critical.
Installation and TxDOT Compliance
Material selection and installation complied with applicable TxDOT drainage standards and roadway specifications, alongside Bexar County and City of Elmendorf requirements. TDR’s takeoff and lay-schedule services ensured DNT Construction had material certainty before breaking ground—critical in a complex, multi-tenant environment with regional detention requirements and dual-railroad constraints.
Conclusion and Long-Term Value
Alamo Junction Rail Park represents one of South Texas’s most strategically positioned rail-served industrial developments. The ongoing build-to-suit phase benefits from TDR ULTRA’s proven performance under heavy industrial loading and TDR Engineering’s takeoff and lay-schedule services—ensuring materials arrive on time and drainage is installed correctly. The result is a durable, high-capacity system that ties cleanly into the park’s master storm network and supports continued tenant growth.
About TDR ULTRA® Corrugated HDPE Pipe
TDR ULTRA® is a dual-wall corrugated high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipe engineered for gravity-flow stormwater drainage. It combines a smooth interior liner for hydraulic efficiency with a reinforced, annular corrugated exterior and a co-extruded integrated bell for watertight joints. Available in 4-inch through 60-inch diameters, TDR ULTRA® meets AASHTO M294 and ASTM F2306, with watertight joints tested per ASTM D3212—making it well suited to industrial, logistics, highway, and commercial drainage projects across Texas.
