TDR ULTRA Corrugated HDPE Pipe North Crowley Practice Fields, Fort Worth, TX

Athletic Field Drainage Fort Worth — North Crowley, TX
TDR Pipe supplied TDR ULTRA® corrugated HDPE pipe for athletic field drainage in Fort Worth, Texas at the North Crowley Practice Fields, a multi-field athletic development at North Crowley High School. TDR provided 8-inch through 18-inch dual-wall HDPE pipe totaling 3,640 linear feet for field and site drainage.
Project overview
The North Crowley Practice Fields project is part of a broader capital improvement program by Crowley Independent School District (Crowley ISD), focused on enhancing athletic facilities at North Crowley High School. The project includes the development of multiple football practice fields, along with grading, drainage systems, and supporting site infrastructure. These improvements are designed to provide high-quality training environments and support the district’s athletic programs. For school athletics, dependable field drainage is what keeps practices on schedule and athletes safe after rain.
The Challenge: Multiple Adjacent Fields
Athletic fields demand precise grading for performance and safety, and this project required coordinating that grading with turf installation systems while managing runoff across multiple adjacent fields. Large open field areas concentrate runoff, and Fort Worth’s flat terrain calls for engineered drainage to move water quickly and keep surfaces usable. On top of the hydraulics, the system had to meet school-district standards and integrate cleanly with the fields’ turf and subsurface systems.
Athletic Field Drainage in Fort Worth — The TDR ULTRA® Solution
A dual-wall HDPE drainage system—TDR ULTRA® corrugated HDPE pipe—was selected to move runoff rapidly off the practice fields and maintain consistent, playable conditions. Diameters from 8 to 18 inches let smaller lines capture localized field runoff while larger lines carried combined flows toward site outfalls. The pipe’s smooth interior supports rapid drainage on flat terrain, its corrugated exterior handles loads across the field areas, and its lightweight sections installed efficiently around the turf and grading systems—delivering the fast, reliable drainage that athletic fields require.
Installation and TxDOT Compliance
Material selection and installation complied with applicable TxDOT drainage standards and roadway specifications, as well as school-district requirements. Coordinating the HDPE drainage with precise field grading and turf installation ensured the system performed exactly where playability and athlete safety depend on it, while the lightweight pipe kept installation efficient across the multi-field site.
Performance Results
The completed system improved field drainage and playability, reduced downtime due to weather conditions, enhanced safety for athletes, and delivered long-term infrastructure durability. Consistent field conditions also reduce maintenance demands on district grounds crews between events. For Crowley ISD, that means more usable practice time, fewer weather cancellations, and a facility built to serve the district’s athletic programs for years—protecting a public investment in student athletics.
About TDR ULTRA® Corrugated HDPE Pipe
TDR ULTRA® is a dual-wall corrugated high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipe engineered for gravity-flow stormwater drainage. It combines a smooth interior liner for hydraulic efficiency with a reinforced, annular corrugated exterior and a co-extruded integrated bell for watertight joints. Available in 4-inch through 60-inch diameters, TDR ULTRA® meets AASHTO M294 and ASTM F2306, with watertight joints tested per ASTM D3212—making it well suited to public infrastructure, education, highway, and commercial drainage projects across Texas.
